Handspiker/Hanselpacker Loyalists

The following entries are known Hanselpackers who served in the 4th Battalion of the New Jersey Volunteers, on the side of the British, during the American Revolutionary War. I have excerpted just those names, no others. These lists are on microfilm at the New Jersey State Library. However, I wish to thank Donna Ristenbatt for having linked the text on her Loyalist pages at: http://www.ristenbatt.com/genealogy/loyalind.htm

American Revolutionary War

Includes Men from Bergen County, New Jersey

It should be noted, during the majority of the war, Philip roamed with the men in the battalion, whilst Conrad spent most of his time in Harlem, as a taylor (Provincial Taylor)... likely making uniforms for the British troops and officers, there. Philip made rank, faster than did Conrad. William appears on only one roster, while I've found no record that John ever actually served as a loyalist. (JWH)
